3mm and 6mm mixing miniatures
« on: 02 November 2024, 01:04:25 PM »
I've been trying out miniatures from 6mm ranges to go with my 3mm miniatures.
Using 6mm mechs is an obvious one, they look great next to 3mm minis

But I also spotted this 6mm assault lander from Brigade Models.
This is what it looks like with 6mm minis.

But it looks like a good sized dropship with 3mm miniatures.

I'm going to dig through more of the Brigade Models ships for some other that will work.

And of course you can go the other way which mixing up the scales.
Here is the 6mm infantry next to some 3mm medium mechs.

Off to find more miniatures that I can use for 3mm sci-fi  8)

Does GZG still sell small not-Votoms mechs in their 6mm Dirtside range? Those would fit into your armies.

Also, some of GZG’s 15mm walker drones might fit in as massive walkers if given a suitable paint job and basing.

Something like these:  https://shop.groundzerogames.co.uk/15mm-stargrunt/15mm-stargrunt/vehicles/15mm-stargrunt/vehicles/remotes-drones-and-bot-s/v15-185b.html

I am tempted to use those GZG walker drones in 28mm battles.  I see drones getting smaller on the plausible battlefield, not bigger.

Yes I'm sure GZG still sell those not-votoms, and they do fit very well with 6 and 3mm miniatures.

I find a lot of 28mm or 15mm Drone miniatures work as mechs or aircraft at smaller scales.

I had spotted those as great Dalek vehicles for 6mm.

A lot of the Germy 3mm units look like they'd work well as sort of armoured cars in 6mm or sort of power suits like space marines from 40k

I would think more likely a Sontaran vehicle than Dalek, Daleks have displayed and used antigrav levitation tech for several decades. Earthlings haven’t caught on, and Sontarons would disdain it…but a walker vehicle might just be up their breathing hole.

It certainly has the low squat aesthetic that you'd expect from Sontaran designs, I've already gone with the South african vehicles from Brigade models for them though, they feel like tanks except not quite how modern tanks are.
I was going to go with some recent GZG hovering drones for regular Dalek tanks whereas these would be heavier ones, with guns so powerful that they gave them legs to handle the recoil.
