28mm resin, plastic Parasol?
« on: 18 November 2024, 01:47:05 PM »
Hi,

I'm putting together a Timurid force and I am trying to source a decent Parasol- oft used as standards.

Does anyone have any idea where I could find one please?

I'd prefer it to be in plastic or resin (printed or no) as it has to sit at the top of a standard bearer's pole but metal would do if that is all I can get my hands on.

This is the sort of thing I'm thinking about:

Image from Eureka UK's classical Indian Range pack- Indian Unarmoured Command #1 (28mm)- TMC-IND010

Thanks

ooo, I had a couple of plastic parasol/umbrellas from somewhere... trying to think back, it may have been an architectural model bit... although it was suitable for 28mm, it wasn't a wargaming bit... maybe railway

blitzkrieg miniatures has one in their indian range - they say it is 3d printed, but I don't know if that might make it easier for them to sell you a pack of them

Oh, yeah, you'd have to tassel it up.

Thanks Peterem. That's one I will put "in the bank" if I cannot find a more appropriately shaped one- appreciated :)

Not sure it's quite the shape you want and it's definitely in metal (white metal umbrella-y thingy and brass wire pole) but Eureka do something a a parasol in their Dark Ages range. Apparently it's Saladin's  lampshade.

In our local Hobby-Craft store there are lots of interesting buttons. Worth a look.
Also look at furniture decorations. They often have decorative 'buttons' that often
have to be hammered into the furniture, & therefore come with their own 'stick'.

Oh another possibility is a large sequin (or several different sizes glued one on top
of another. Then a dress making pin (they are nice long pins with a ball on the top)
glued through the sequin(s).

Second the Blitzkrieg option.

I did write to Blitzkeieg and ask if I could order one miniature which he wanted to charge me £8 postage for so I said no. I am seriously not paying £8 postage for a £2 miniature! This is not Games workshop buddy!

Thanks, I'd quite forgotten about V&V. I'll take a peek over there and see what's what.

I dunno how all the quotes have got so muddled up...... apologies :)

Problem solved. In the end I went with the Eureka Classcial Indian Command Pack (Indian Unarmoured Command #1 (28mm)
Product Code: TMC-IND010)
as I already have a Classical Indian army and two extra models can't hurt  :D
