What game series is CS? I used to play X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter religiously.

It was a 1998 tabletop game too, played on hexagon grid maps with 1/200th scale white metal models. Each plane had a "character" sheet with specific stats and where you could blank out damaged sections with the help of an ammunition specific template.

Have a look here: https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/3855/crimson-skies
There was a series of papreback novels too. The background is an imagined America in the 1930s after another secession, mainly driven by the depression. New states/state conglomerates are struggling for independency and transport is done by giant Zeppelins, which fall prey to air pirates. Jet engines are not yet invented, but aircraft designs are state of the art and mostly experimental piston engine propelled beauties/uglies. I loved it and still do!

Okay, I've heard of Crimson Skies but never played it. Interesting background, I think it was partially "borrowed" for the anime "The Magnificent Kotobuki."

Never heard of it, but looking at its Wikipedia page, I think we can safely agree on that  lol

Looks kinda fun too, actually...

The CS planes were always cool looking, never had a chance to try the game.

STL files for printing are here:

It's a very fun show. The creator was hyper-fixated on realistic aircraft to the point of consulting manuals and blueprints and, early on anyway, flight mechanics.

Hmm, that series does sound fun!

Also the tech geekery sounds on a par with the tanks of Girls und Panzer, which was a superb series (and still waiting for the final Finale movies to drop...)

You outed yourself first, so I'll out myself too. There's a little Floof with a tank shell sitting atop my computer tower right now.

Also, Kotobuki is made by the creator of Girls und Panzer. Even before I knew that, I had my suspicion watching the first episode with the absurd amount of detail piled into the start up process of a ki-43 Hayate, his favorite airplane.

The wait for the "movies" is so frustrating! Every other year we get 60 minutes of new story...

If you take a close look at my avatar, the chibi sketch was done in artist's alley at Anime Boston 2019 in my Saunders cosplay I was wearing for running Garupan games with 15mm tanks and homebrew rules.

The Saunders insignia on your avatar isn't subtle, is it?

Thats a nice set up you have, I should do up some Saunders Shermans in 28mm. I should get the decals from Company B.
