Hmm, no character design system is a bit of a turn-off... how many characters/archetypes are available for each warband?

Generally speaking, for the Carpathia/Cairo version of the game, Agility costs 3
pts. per die, all other attributes should be 2 pts. per die. Most special traits
can either be valued by the die (usually 2 pts. per), or have a flat cost between
3-5 pts. Further uses of single use traits should cost around 2 pts.

Hope this helps!

I am a long-time friend of Scott and Lee and a playtester of the various Chaos games. Having said that, I found it incredible easy using the guidelines Scott posted above to come up with new characters. In fact I created entire factions and new traits to cover French and Indian / AWI (colonist versus Indian) gaming. http://downloads.bluemoonmanufacturing.com/Drums-download-page.html

From my experience making characters using my personal points driven design system I'd say the best way to designs your characters is common sense. The game is too complex to create a realy working design system based on points cost and you need to playtest warbands anyways to see if they work on the table.

Good point, Mike,

As we've explained to folks asking for a build system in the past, we still end up fudging some of the points values to balance out the model. While the majority of CiC characters' points values will add up correctly, several have had points added or removed for play balance.

I ended up purchasing both Chaos in Cario and Goalsystem Fantasy.  Some of the point build options that were left out of CiC look like they were included into GSF.  Quite lovely books.  Currently working on some warbands for the former.   :)

I was wondering if the Goalsystem and related games have rules to support campaign play, particularly in the style of Mordeim (ie, a lot of different random events and discoveries tied in to warband advancement)

The first version of the Supersystem had that, not sure about the two subsequent ones.  There was maybe a dozen diffrent scenarios, with a table of random events for each one.  It also had advancement rules where models would gain additional build points after every match.
While I know Chaos in Carpathia contains the scenario rules for campaign play, I'm unsure about random events or character advancement.

Cairo & Carpathia have optional Random Events that can occur during scenarios. As Characters gain experience, experience points can be traded in for rolls on the advance tables.
