Would it not have been wiser to first finish the work for the crane etc, and then paint? It feels you are putting the horse behind the cart now.

I wonder if a Billings boat model in suitable scale might be available

Looking very nice indeed.
I'm glad to see I'm not the only one making semi-fictional Islands...

I'm using it for Pulp Alley's China Station scenario to better fit with my terrain collection and preferred aesthetic. It's been a lot of fun! I've enjoyed seeing your AARs on your island, too.

I really like the freighter it'll be great for almost any pulp game - Skull Island anyone?  As far as naval accessories go I recommend The Old Glory Shipyard, the Pulp Figures ship accessories packs, and the Miniature Building Authority Harbor Town range.  Also I found a company called the Frenchman River Model Works which makes an awesome line of 1/48 scale boats/small ships.  Unfortunately they are pretty expensive.

Nice bit of kit. Could do with an anchor or two, if it's a sea going vessel. Billings and other model ship fitting companies do them plus they have some other useful bits of it to dress up your steamer lie davits  and lights etc.

Have a look at Antscale models for a small ship's boat to hang off the stern.

I can play without the crane, so finishing the boat to use it is my priority. I plan to mount the crane over the center split in the cargo holds so it can be removed for storage.
