Big Mike and Cavendish?  Love it.  Maybe Big Mike will be a little guy towered over by Cavendish?  Hmm.    :D

Al Capone could always pick up the gauntlet and go down to challenge Smedley Butler over who gets to run the US Banana Racket.

You mean ' the great Alphonse Capone' (TM) a man more indicted than the President? Maybe he could be joined by  'the great Hannibal Lecter' (TM).  ;)

Sorry Cat and Carlos.  Already more than enough intrigue and other shenanigans in or planned.  So no Al Capone.  Smedley?  Well, he could be a player - since he actually was.  And that first name is just built in humor to me.  Must have been a heck of a moniker for such a highly decorated marine to carry around.

Little did I know when I embarked on this little journey that I'd be learning about the Banana Apocalypse and that there was a Big Mike variety (cultivar) of banana!

it's why banana flavour things don't taste like banana... the flavouring was based on Big Mike, but was never changed and we all only have Cavendish to compare it to...

And...

I've pulled out four men and four women figures to be the head of the banana and coffee companies.  Likely Big Mike and Cavendish will fulfill those roles - and being Yaleys and Harvard Yard types also involved in 'intelligence' and other intrigues.

I read that and the first name that popped into my head as a possible coffee plantation owner or exporter was 'Arabica Jones'!  lol

"So, Lord Snapcase, in your opinion, when did the Lead Adventure Forum get off track and begin to deteriorate...?"

"Ahem! It was that confounded moment when every poster began using 'drag names' instead of profiles....used to be such a great forum! Gone to the dogs, now, I say..."

 ;)  :D  lol

Of course not, sequins make good shields for 10mm dark ages conversions. Obviously. What else would they be used for?

Okay - enough WAY off track postings.  Let's get back to my personal silliness, the Banana Wars.  The first 39 figures, the presidential guard, are making progress on the painting table using red over purple or purple over red for the foot with purple over blue for the mounted - all banana colors, if not perfectly matched to real bananas.  Accents will be in greens and yellows.  Might get them finished today but might take a day or two more, depends on how much extra effort I want to put out.  They are rather smallish 15 mm figures and a very basic and simple sculpting style for the foot.  The foot were found in my stash, I think part of flea market purchase of a huge bag of 15 mm figures from a very long time ago.  I chose them because they have a sort of bearskin so more distinctive.

The leader of the rifle armed foot is mounted on black horse with white mane and tail, quite distinctive.  And the mounted guard are on white horses, a cross between Lippizan and Peruvian Paso horses that, when parading have the most remarkable and in step walking-jumping gait.  (Found a half dozen horses from who knows where in my collection in a semi-rearing position which I decided to paint white which put me in mind of the Lippizan horses but then I recalled watching some Peruvian Paso horses who naturally get into step with a very high stepping gait - so I 'combined' them in my imaginary little world.)

Mounted Guard = 6 men, 6 horses
Armed Guard = 12 men on foot and 1 man on 1 horse
Guard Band = 13 men on foot (11 actual musicians, varied instruments)

Had to start somewhere and this is where I decided.  Next up will be the more 'traditional' presidential forces to be followed by the leftist and rightist forces.  And then probably the large apes followed by port folk and civilians.  And in the mix will be working on the watercraft and the buildings along the way.
