Looking For Figures for Pacific Northwest Native Americans
« on: July 19, 2025, 04:13:58 PM »
Hey all,

I'm back at my Old West project and have decided to go for something different in Old West town builds - a coastal town set in the Oregon Territory, specifically up in the Puget Sound area (where i amd originally from). The normal cast of characters from any old Old West line with a smattering of Victorian and even Pulpy figures should work fine for this but I am curious if anyone has any recommendations for native fgirues that would be appropriate for the Coast Salish folks of that region.

Thanks in advance,

Eli

Good luck with that. The Plains Indians, and not even all of them, and Apache seem to be the only ones produced.

Paymaster games have Pacific North Western people jn traditional costume. There was a Russian  company that did Tlingit.
Wargames Foundry Blackfoot definitely aren't 'right' but don't look overly "plains". Come to that, Northstar do somewhat generic "Native Americans" in the Dracula's America line that might be modifiable if you squint.

Hmm, Eureka has a lovely range of Tlingit in 15mm; perhaps an enquiry to Nic about possible 28s might help?

Thanks all for the info,

I've seen Paymaster's stuff and i think it may be a bit too heroic for this project as great as it is. Eureka's Tlingit are cool, but their fighting types might be a bit too early for the project. If they do civilians, I may be able to use some of those.

I have a feeling that this part of the project will come down a bit of conversion work and "good enough" thinking.

Not an exact match but maybe some parts of this set might be useful to you:

In particular, these items:

Thought of this thread when I saw these.  Might be ordering for my own use - though not for PNW.

Do correspond with site before ordering!  Photo is ambivalent about what comes with the set.

Thanks for the news there Nic. I think I may be treating myself to a few 28s in addition to the 15s I already have.
I'm not a mercenary. Killing's more of a hobby for me.

Hooray!  My son wants to game Russian American Company vs Tlingit, so I will be looking out for this release :)

While I can't speak for the coastal tribes, Foundry's Blackfeet are the best I have found for a base for conversions for the Spokane and Nez Perce tribes. Also, I have used Old West figs with head and bare arm swaps from plastic sprues for warriors as well.

A lot of it depends on the period you are looking at. From the 1860s on more mixing with western wear for most tribes.
