28mm Sea Peoples army progress…
« on: September 04, 2025, 12:43:49 PM »
Here’s my current update on the progress of my Sea Peoples army for our planned gaming project using OBG The New Kingdom.

This is probably the most archers I’m ever going to use, even in a larger game, so I painted them all in one go to make things faster!

You can see that I’ve chosen to use more natural and muted colours on their helmet plumes compared to the warriors behind them, this is just a stylistic choice on my part, but I think it makes them stand out on the table without the use of overly bright colours.

I’ve also started to use some different colour skin tones in the units. Again, this is just to add some variation and as we don’t know for certain if who the Sea Peoples were, having some variation in appearance of the models always adds to the overall look of the unit 😁

Nice looking group of Sea People.

They are not as "Popular" as they once were as a cause for the Bronze Age collapse, but they are definitely still talked about a lot.

They looks great! I always thought they were one of the most interesting Biblical era forces, so am interested to see how your project develops.

Very nice !

Was listening to a really interesting podcast on “The Ancients” about the possible origins of the Sea People only a couple of days ago too - must get my 15mm version on the table sometime soon !

Inspiring work.

I see you've added archers to the horde. AFAIK, there's no historical proof of this. But before I sound like some carping pedant, I also think the Egyptians probably  "generalised" their depictions of the SPs & left out a lot of detail. I have a Sea Peoples' army & before I added bow units, their Egyptian enemies shot them to pieces before they could close.

Are you going to add some SP chariots? Again, no proof? But again, a strong chariot force opposed to them will be hard to beat. I can imagine scenarios where they captured chariots &/or enticed chariot warriors to fight along side them. Libyans?

I look forward to seeing more of your great work.
