To be honest, the look is far, far closer to the current mainstream Marvel Thor than I would have anticipated.

Yep. Doesn't look like they have tried to modernise or update it too much.

Hate to disappoint you, but this sculpt has been announced for months. Part of the Marvel Legends action figure series and showed up in Toy Fair, I dunno, about four or five months ago now. I don't know how much it will represent the final version of the costume/character.
