yes, mortar :)

you'd need one of those textured paints that are pretty damn thin, more of a rough primer, no sand and pva :D

Finally got my first one finished!  :D

Was quite pleased with the finished result and I loved this kit! I would normally scratch build and have had reasonable success with that but with this kit the hard work is done and you are left with just tarting it up to whatever level of finish you prefer. I heartily recommend this kit to everyone!

Good work on the windows.
Were they difficult to take out?
Your paint job on the brick work really makes it look good :-*

Great work indeed!

you could apply glue in drybrushing technique and then use fine sand to get the surface rough.
Then use a needle to scrape off the excess inbetween and prime it with some thin varnish, which will make the sand stick better

btw, the example looks excellent :-*

Oh well done, Bobble, that's superb! I especially like the white on the bricks. I may well be up for some , having seen that.
Do they get cheaper each for multiple buys? Personally I could make the frame but I'd pay £12.00 in order to move straight to what I find more enjoyable, the dressing and detailing stage.

Don't forget the gutters and down pipes Bobble!  ;)

Love these.  Any chance of a quick tutorial?  ???

Bobble - Your paint job really hides the "flatness" or "untextured " aspect that are turning people off. Great work.

How deep are the brick lines between the brick? A very light sanding could ad some texture. But I personally do not care that much....
Yearly painting challenges only show me how useless I am at painting...

I have been looking at houses while driving lately.  You don't notice the shadows in the mortar joints and many house in my area have flat tiles, that could be etched into the roof.  Texture is not something that appears to grab the eye.

You   did a grand job painting that house Bobble; you captured the variation in the colour you get in a brick walls.
A quote from Gamer Mac (Even though the Brick work is etched there is no texture on the faces of the bricks) I live in a council house built in 1926 and there is no texture on any of the bricks what so every this is the same for all houses in the street, even my parents house built in 1888 is smooth bricks, so maybe the area were you live or were they make bricks would decide if they were textured or not.
I will be buying some of them, and I have asked would they be bringing out an English type church, and he said he would look into it.
I was also thinking of cutting one in half and make it to a single story house
I like the idea of MDF at lest they will not chip or break if dropped.
