The book Cloud Of Sparrows by Takashi Matsuoka has the opposite happen. Among other plotlines involving samurai, Japanese feudal politics, ninjas and shit; it features a bitter, emotionally-scarred gunslinger from the Old West who travels to Japan in a quest for revenge.


I guess I'm just not in with what the cool kids like any more, as that film looks like a right load of old crap to me.

I enjoyed it a lot. There was a sequel called "Autumn Bridge" but I have never got around to buying it.
