Martian Skin Colour

I'm painting up some Rafm Space:1889 Maritans. I was never really keen on the idea of yellow skin for martians, for some reason... The few others I've painted were red or orange... I did a few Parhoon Rifles in different colours to see how they'd look:

I'm still kind of leaning towards the red (for the Canal and Hill Maritans - I'll stick with orange for the High Martians)... I don't know...? Anyone out there with strong feelings one way or the other...?

Remember that this is VSF. Feel free to explore your own imagination. Any color that you thinks looks right is right for you. Personally I have painted both red & yellow Martians of the canal & air ship type. My High Martians I have painted various shades or orange to dark reddish brown. Even if you game with some people that have painted theirs differently skin tones vary here on Earth too. Whatever you find you like go with it.

I prefer the canon yellow.  My first ones were painted with GW "Orc Brown", which happens to be very similar to the khaki I use for my Brits.

Those orange High Martians look great though!

Well, as there is such a huge range of skin colours in humans, why not Martians too? As the first encounter I had with Mars was with John Carter, I'd be happy to use any of the colours Burroughs does.

I quite like the dark yellow shade you have done on a couple of your Parhoon Rifles, but that's just me.
