A great looking board. I'd just suggest a few more random tombstones fo fill the gaps.

This is a really nice set but like most GW stuff the price is a bit prohibitive for me. Although If they made a set with just the fencing and gates I'd have to relent and get a couple of sets.
Below is a link to my blog. It's the place where I write uninteresting things about little toy soldiers. I do this because I refuse to grow up and behave like an adult.

Thanks for the feedback everyone.  I should have photos of the next couple of graveyard items up next week.  In the meantime I have added a couple of photos of some of the other elements to the original post.

For the record, this is the picture I thought looked silly...

Yeah, that photo of a very crowded and small group of plots does look a bit cramped.  The kit is much better suited to miniature gaming than that photo would suggest.

I'd just suggest a few more random tombstones fo fill the gaps.

My thoughts too.  One set of model railroad tombstones is en route from Antenocitis Workshop right now and I hope to pick up a third set of Renedra stones at Salute next week.  That should be loads I reckon.

I have also finished off the weird, Sleepy Hollow-esque, fairy tale spooky trees from the GW woods for use with the graveyard.  I hope to get them photographed this weekend.  They should add some flavour and cover to the table too.

As these things go I reckon that it would be hard to find a cheaper way to get a graveyard table going, as the cost of the various resin crypts and the like build up fast.  The Gardens of Morr were just under €30 each when I bought them from Maelstrom Games last year. Compared to the cost of covering a table in sci-fi urban terrain or similar it really isnt that much cost I think.

Apart from scratch building from household items and the like (which is always very time consuming if you require a nice finish) I cant imagine a cheaper (or faster) way to get a tableworthy graveyard.

Not that I am telling you how to spend you money of course :)

Stunning work, really nice. I cant wait to see the whole grave yard.

What games do you use it for?

Cheers

Very kind, thanks.

I bought the terrain with plans to use it for... something, probably post apocalyptic.

Since then I have started to play Malifaux, which in turn moved this project to the top of the heap.  I have already played a couple of games of that in the graveyard: Malifaux is a pretty cemetery strewn place I suspect (and is also a post apocalyptic setting).

As a reasonably generic (if somewhat theatrical) graveyard the project has applications for use in my modern zombie games and my planned-but-thats-all-so-far Buffy games.

I do plan to use the set for skirmish scale 40k based games reasonably soon.  I also plan to play a Judge Dredd scenario or two on it (either set in the Cursed Earth or in some sort of goofy cemetery theme park in Mega City One).

So nothing terribly "Gothic Horror" even though its in this forum :)

I love it.  You have shifted this set to my "purchase soon" list.  I am envisioning some Scooby gang adventures and other Hanna-Barberian style games.
This is my boomstick!

Love the idea of using it in a Mega City One game as a cemetary theme-park - very Judge Dredd! In fact, that's how I'm going to use my Old West stuff in Judge Dredd when I get around to gaming it!

I finally got around to taking some snaps of the Citadel Wood.  The photos arent great, but they should give an idea of how the pieces look.

I originally planned to leave the foliage off the trees so that they would fit in with the wasteland setting.  When I saw the foliage pieces in hand I decide that I wanted to paint them so in a moment of madness I decided to magnetize the foliage and selected tree branches so that I could use the trees in both ways.

I plan to use the trees as individual pieces mainly, but I figured that I would paint the base while I was at it anyway.  As usual, more info is available on my blog.

I also recently added the open grave and the crypt shown in the foreground of the photo above.  I was donated both pieces by friends who figured that they wouldnt get around  to using them so I gave both pieces a quick job to fit in here.  I overdid the cartoony style on the open grave piece a bit (in part because its a quite gaudy piece, in part from experimenting), which bugs me.  I am unlikely to go back to it though: I am sure that it will blend in fine in situ.

And finally I also painted up this Horrorclix tree model at the same time as the trees above, but forgot to include it in the larger photos, so here it is.

I have my extra sets of Renedra gravestones lined up ready for a basing and painting.  I should get to those over the next couple of weeks.  When I do then I think that the graveyard will be finished.  Once it is I will set the whole lot up for a couple of photos.

Very nice, Cheetor!
 :-*

I have had my eyes on the GW trees for my Mordheim project for a while, but the price keeps putting me off.
I may have to reconsider, as you have done a really good job on them.

And thank you very much for the tip off about the 'clix tree. I have a perfect use for that.
What is it called, for search purposes?

Thanks.  My little corner of toysoldierdom tends to be a bit vibrant, some would say gaudy.  Im glad that you like it.

Thanks.  Its a fun kit, I enjoyed putting it together.  It isnt as cleverly manufactured as the Garden of Morr though, which is a particularly brilliantly engineered set in my opinion.

As an FYI, the annual GW price hike happens over the next week or so.  This year it is heavily focused on their terrain sets.  I heard someone on a Beasts of War video mention 30% price increases on terrain.  If you plan to get either the graveyards or the trees then now might be the time.  I imagine that they would fit in well with your spectacular Mordheim stuff.

The tree doesnt have a specific name that I can remember, but Wikipedia calls it a "tree of the damned".  As far as I know it was only supplied as part of the Horrorclix starter set (which also came with some tombstones, a skeleton in a leather jacket, a straitjacketed guy with tentacles bursting out of his back, a man in a suit with a mask and a chainsaw, a vamp chick holding a skull, a werewolf and a g-g-g-ghost).

You might be able to pick the creepy tree up separately, but I dont think that I have ever seen it for sale on its own :(

I've always loved the GW creepy trees - one of their best terrain sets, in my opinion, along with the plastic walls and fences. Love the pale colour you've gone with for these - and magnetised too!
