Bouncy Bouncy with questions - two more normal ones found
« on: May 15, 2011, 09:08:04 PM »
A long time ago, I watched a game of Blood Bowl at the club and fell in love with the stupid goblins, so in true tradition I went out and increased the lead pile!

Over the years I have managed to get a couple painted (but never played with) and present you with:

Now the questions are:

1) How long ago did these figures come out (I do remember this was the first one I bought off the rack in GW)?
2) Any other games use these figures (I know of ElfBall)?

1 - no idea;

2 - could use him for anything you like I reckon. In Warhammer Fantasy Battle, for instance, I think he'd make a nice alternative to a Goblin Fanatic (the ones with the massive ball and chain and the random movement). In this case, his random movenment is justified by the difficulty of controlling the pogo-stick.

He could also be a Standard Bearer. Just because he's half way up the banner pole doesn't make much difference I reckon.

Or maybe he's a Shaman. Maybe he's so high on Fungus Beer he thinks he's riding a Wyvern, or something.

Maybe he's a Squig-Herder. No reason to rely on the official models I reckon.

That's just for Fantasy Battle. Surely, you can do pretty much the same process for almost any fantasy game?

Is the whole team like this? If it is you could invent a new goblin unit for whatever games you do play. Surprising Bouncy Goblin Terrorists. SPRoBOinG-T for short (don't worry, Goblins usally aren't very good at spelling). Rapid random attack goblins that are quite easy to make fall over.

Don't know if any of that helps. Hope so. It's a lovely figure, I'm not really familiar with Blood Bowl, and it's a cool paint job.

Lovely paint job on a classic model! as far as i remember that particular bb range was released mid 90's, i vaguely recall 93 or 95 being on the tabs of some of my models... they fetch a small fortune on ebay though, so if you're looking to expand your collection you'd better buy your wallet a nice romantic dinner before the ******* it's gonna get!! hope that helps mate!

This model was made for third edition Blood Bowl, all those models were made by Gary Morley and featured in the 1994 catalogue:

So I guess that's approximately when they were made and released.

You can use it for, well, any game which requires a bouncy goblin as Red Orc said. For more info on fantasy football games you can take a look at: http://www.talkfantasyfootball.org/

Nice paint job!
Let me hear the battle cry
Calling on the wind
Let me see the banners fly

That is one UBERCOOL, VERY SILLY as-only-a-Goblin-can-be mini. You did a FINE job bringing the Little Loony to life...such as it is. VERY WELL DONE!
I'd NEVER join a club that would have me as a member.  G.Marx

Found two more in the boxes under the bed:

Looks like the rest of them are unpainted (no undercoat even) so we must have stopped playing after these where done.
