Shanty Town for my Fallout/Post Apoc project
« on: 08 August 2011, 06:35:54 PM »
Here's some progress on the next project for my Fallout/Post Apoc stuff. A Shanty Town. Inspored by Gisby's great shanty town for Kill Zone.

So to go with the rest of the ruined buildings, I am working on 16 shanties, from good condition, to burned out hulks. Think District 9 for inspiration. Also included is 7 rubbish piles.

Here's the WiP:

The primed Shanties. MAde of balsa, basswood, straws, card, platic sheet, etc.

The broke down section of Shanty Town.

falling down, stopped in construction, and burned out shanties.

Rubbish Piles:

CD bases, insulation foam build-build ups, straws, sticks, paper, card, plastic sheet, plaster and sand. Piles need to be primed and painted. They are next. Followed by another rubbled building that is primed and ready to paint. More on that one soon.

All of this is to get ready for the Recruits convention in September. We are previewing Fistful of Lead:Wasteland Warriors. Also at that convention is the release of Ambush Alley's Tomorrow's War. Should be a great con.

Thanks for looking. Stop by the blog, when you have a chance. http://leadaddict.blogspot.com/

Nice looking shanties. The brunt out ones look great. I like the rubbish/debris piles. I may have to borrow this idea for my Post Apoc world. lol

Your shanties are great- and good for lots of settings- I think I might have to have a go and making my own.

Great stuff!  Just got back from GenCon, but I can't wait for Recruits.  Definitely going to have to check out your game.

Papa,
If you've played Fistful of Lead, you know me and the rest of the Basement Generals like to keep it simple. I don't like a lot of battlefield clutter, and with a few exceptions, hate record sheets. Thus, my dilemma. I want it simple, but not so simple its ridiculous. I'd like something that works for small street skirmishes with improvised armored vehicles, as well as Mad Max style road battles. I want the mechanics to slide in easily to the existing game. May not see any vehicles at RECRUITS. Me and Lead Addict (kenohhkc), are going to have to sit down with some beers and figure this one out.
