Suppression Markers and Firing

A Question: do suppression markers in excess of the number of soldiers remaining in a unit (which still has not been pinned) count an additional -1 when shooting?

For example, if there are 5 remaining figures shooting with 6 suppression markers , does one shoot at a -2?
