Could these Paras be used for any modern French soldier?

Yes, they can be used for any French troops. For a contemporary look you really want the ones in helmets, although the more austerely equipped versions in beret will work for peacekeeping or low intensity settings. Beautiful figures, some of the best sculpts around and there's a prospect that will receive some extras.

you can get panhard aml90 and 60 armoured cars from http://www.forceofarms.co.uk/ and there are some diecast 1/50 bits out there mostly amx 13 and vci. I have seen an amx 30 but shipping would of been £50 plus cost of the tank. seen a few VAB's out there too. there's a lot of vehicles to add to my when I'm rich I'll get models of these made list.

have a look at quarterkit , they have french trucks in 1/50 going cheap now and then

Quarterkit have everything you need. It's 1/48 but there's not much in the line of French AFV's you can't source.
