Reaper Barrow Warden finished

Currently painting a heap of 25mm miniatures to use in my son in laws D&D campaign. This project has taken over from both my wife's and my existing current projects. (Her; Eureka cowbear vignette, me; 1:48 Hobbyboss Kv-1 mod. 1942)

Having a great time rediscovering old skills and techniques, plus discovering new ones

I am enjoying painting this Reaper Barrow Warden. Making old steel armour look well weathered but still functional is a goal I am attempting to achieve with this miniature. Still more layering and weathering washes to go. Surcoat and bones are done, base expanded out with green stuff, though more to do yet.

The images show the red surcoat reflecting off the armour. Not seen that before.

That's an EXCELLENT start to the piece. Although I would imagine that painting the components of a mini prior to assembly is often a good idea, I'm just too sloppy a gluer to do it myself. Having a good time with your projects is what the craft is all about, I'm delighted to hear you're enjoying the task...I'm enjoying watch your progress.

Got a bit more done since these pics were taken. Another thinned babab black/gryphon sepia wash over the Armour with emphasis on joints and corners was added. I may yet add a pin wash of the same mix to really pull out detail.

Worked on the broadsword, as being magical, there would be no degradation of the steel like the armour. the broadsword at this stage will have red glowing runes, so I need to carefully pick out the moulded on runes on the sword in red before highlighting up to orange.

I also added more greenstuff vegetation to match the figures original base.

I am calling this "almost" done. The camera is picking up little flaws and "accidents" that I have since cleaned up. Cameras take NO prisoners!

I wanted the runes along the sword blade to glow a bit, not sure if I was successful or not, though it does look quite acceptable.

I am not sure this will ever grace the gaming table, so I have not yet protective clear coated.

Nice weathered look to the armour and your base is perfect, blending very well with the original.

VERY NICELY DONE! Your metalwork is outstanding...the runes do have a glow to them. Whether you're gaming with the mini or not, do a finish coat; it would be a shame to have to repaint for chips & dust.

Once I got the armour down and the surcoat, I mused to my wife (sitting next me me painting a male and female wood elf pair) that it was a shame for it to on the gaming table. She suggested it go in the display cabinet. So now it is

I have a Grenadier knight revenant painted already for gaming that will be fine.
