Middle eastern figs by West Wind - help ID?
« on: 13 December 2011, 10:16:31 PM »
I have a bunch of middle eastern (mummy?) figs from West Wind--but I can't find them on their current website. Can anyone identify these? Are they Mummy figs, or something else? They are slot based.

Thanks in advance for any information you can offer. Sorry for the lack of contrast between the gray primer and the gray background.  :?

Best,
Bill

No idea on the figs but I would suggest that you use spray undercoat, it gives a much smoother painting surface.

I'm not 100% but is the second one, a blue moon chaos in cairo miniature?

Cheers

Very weird, I've been buying and painting a lot of West Wind miniatures, but have not come across anything ouf of their SoTR range be come with slotta bases. Instead the Gothic Horror range comes with this molded bases.

Did it say anything on the base? I think West Wind sold parts of their range a long time ago and some models are made by other manufacturers now. Could this be the case? Can't find these on their site either.

But at least the first model is sculpted by Andy Cooper/West Wind. The hands give it away and are extremely similar to the style of most West Wind models.
The other two I'm not so sure about.

Oldskool rebel is right. I think that they are now produced by Blue Moon enterprises.(Availiable through Old Glory). The chaos in cairo range. I recently got some of the range and they look very similar. Mine still were packaged as west wind. The old west winds are on slottas but the blue moon packaged ones from the same range are on their 'signiture' dinner plate size cast on bases. o_o

I agree about spray undercoating. Makes life so much easier. A matt automotive primer should give good results.

Hope this helps :D

Ah! Found them on the Old Glory website. Chaos in Cairo it is! Looks like I have Cairo Civilians 1 and 2. Thanks to all!

Thanks also for the advice on the undercoating--but I wan't the one who undercoated them. :) I am in total agreement on spray undercoating. Will likely strip these down--the bubbles are realy unsightly.
