Nick Lund's Kobolds

Here are a few pictures of some kobolds I have just recently completed. They are from the Nick Lund range prior to them being merged with Citadel's catalogue.

First up are the basic warriors - 4 armed with hand weapon and shield in a variety of armour:

These aren't bad at all, perfectly representable.
I like the earthy tones and colors, it makes them feel like a creature you'd actually see pictures of in a medieval manuscript.
The shading on the flesh is quite nice, but i think both your clothing and skins could use just a tiny smidge more contrast, at least another, ever so slightly lighter brushing.
You also missed their wonderful teeth.

Cool to see these guys painted so nicely. Am a big Lund fan and have a bunch of them. Then when I started up old school D&D I had to have ones that matched the Monster Manual   so I got some Minifigs one. Doing everything twice: story of my life. But my big Lund collection... have vague plans for a 80's metal sword & sorcery ancient style project one day. Will be rolled into my Red Box games/ Rune (Atlas games tabletop RPG) project.

Anyway, love the paintwork you did on them, and that shaman has real style.

Oh, and I was puzzling over your bases... is one layer a magnet?

Thanks for the kind comments chaps. Some very useful tips - they will all be taken on board when I do my next batch of Chronicle Miniatures (I also have the hobgoblins, but missed out on all the other ranges - a trip to EBay may have to suffice to get those ogres, wolf riders and whatnots).

I have to admit my eyesight isn't what it used to be and I just couldn't see the teeth when painting them. These photos show up lots more detail that I missed. I think I will leave them as is though, so I can see how much I improve (if at all) with my next batch.

The bases are actually stacked UK pennies. When I bought them way back, I mounted them on old non-ferrous pennies but when I came to actually paint them a couple of weeks ago I wanted to, but couldn't, remove the old pennies without damaging the figures. The reason for this proposed basing change is that newer pennies have some steel content that allows them to be placed in drawers with magnetic sheeting to keep them from sliding around. I actually think the double stacking works quite well.

Some very nice old-school figures there, Odo!

I just sold some of these.
I was seriously tempted to keep them as they are so nice, but common sense prevailed.
I have enough to do as it is.

I can identify with the failing eye sight...a true bummer. Despite that, your Little Dog Faced Boys look VERY COOL! WELL DONE!
