I have the rules, but never tried it.  I had heard, I believe, that the zombies are too powerful with the recoil mechanic.  Does that sound right?  I know many people have said they aren't the best for zombies and it needs a little tweeking.
There is that ,and a standard zombie costs as much as a survivor ,even when you use the mob rule  you don't get that swarm effect. Also zombies naturally have a poor quality stat which means as the Z player you only activate a few zeds before your lose control of the turn.
i still like F +F  but it's not great for zombies.

ZAGG is a great game, very flexible character creation.

The number of zombies depends on how much you spend on your survivors.

The game is scenario driven, so even if you manage to kill off zak and his friends, you still may not get a complete victory. Always remember your objective!  :D

Zombies are controlled by the game mechanics.

I just wrote my Own. :) I may even share it in the months to come! That's the great thing about toy soldiers. How you play with them is up to you!

All life is an experiment.

What are the mechanics like?

Zombies react to your actions, some have an aggro range, a single move action might not do any thing, however two or more move actions is considered running and will activate anything within 16 inches.

Discharging a weapon will activate zombies within 16 inches, silent weapons will activate zombies if the shot zombie howls, this will activate everything on the table! In addition silent weapons add 10% to the total number of points of zombies on the board.

Action points are purchased in character creation, more than 4 points and you get penalized with a 10 point follower you must keep safe, these followers increase for each point over 4.

The thing I like most is that the game is designed for co-operative play, in all of our games there has been some serious strategy planning take place, like chess, you have to look several moves ahead.

Ammo is tracked and it is possible to run out.

i still like F +F  but it's not great for zombies.

It is true that you do not get the 'horde'-feel, but I don't agree that the rules don't work for zombie games.

In the latest - fairly balanced, points-wise - run we had with F&F, the survivor player just managed to pull off a victory by having ONE survivor cross the table and exit, while the rest of the group was pulled down by the shamblers. It is about knowing when to roll one, two or three dice as a zombie-player, and you need fairly dense terrain (such as a cityscape with roads and other bottle-necks) that forces the humans into tough decisions about how to close on the objectives (oh, and you NEED scenarios, not just plain fights).

That being said, the F&F rules are more about running balanced groups in a campaign-environment, than humans facing the impossible odds of the mainstream zombie movie.

I would suggest any newcomers to zombie-gaming to aim for the number of zeds needed for DwA or AR:SE - and along the way, until they have enough undead, get some games played with F&F - there's no harm in stageing unbalanced F&F games with more zeds than normally required, as long as all participants agree on it, and you'll be able to get some gaming going a bit faster.

With so many free and cheap rulesets out there, why limit oneself to only one?  :)

I'm a sucker for new, interesting rules myself, and even if I decide to not use a particular set, I seldom regret buying or downloading it, as it has most often contributed to the inspiration that fuels my interest in its genre.
Ask at the LAF, and answer shall thy be given!

ZAGG will work with as many as you can muster, the higher the points total for characters just means more zombies, I like the system because it can be played solo as well.
