Baltic Campaign 1919
« on: 15 December 2011, 08:49:56 AM »
Hi everyone,

I am completely new to this forum.

My aim is to reanimate the Batlic Campaign of 1919. I want to play scenarios on the platoon / squad level.

As I am quite new to the wargaming hobby, I have a lot of questions and I hope you can help me:

1. Miniatures:

I searched this forum for a while and found some sites which sell miniatures which would fit in my scenarios:

For the Freikorps:

http://scarabminiatures.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=5_25_27

for Freikorps and Latvian forces (I thought of using the Red infantry):

http://www.copplestonecastings.co.uk/range.php?range=BOB

Does anyone know more sites?

I found on empress miniature some walls etc. which could be used for my scenarios. However, I am sure there must be a lot of more stuff outside there, I just have to find it (with your help hopefully :-) )

2. Rules:

What set of rules would fit the time? "Triumph and Tragedy?"

3. Historical background:

I own the Osprey Volume about the Freikorps, which includes some nice pictures for the uniforms etc., but I am still looking for new interesting facts, especially about the Freikorps`enemies, which are not that good recorded.

thanks for patience!

Welcome to the forum Manteuffel.  :)

I can't help with most of your query, but I'm sure at least one of our regulars should be able to help.

Ruleswise there's; Triumph and Tragedy of course, but also Through The Mud and the Blood and Warhammer Great War, both of which will give very different types of game. Obviously you'll have to do some research for your forces, but otherwise those three sets should all be suitable, depending on how you would like to game. There are likely to be many others suitable, but as far as I know there are no specific 'Baltic War' rule sets out there.

Feel free to keep asking questions, if we can help we will. At the very least you'll get the 'best guess' if nobody is certain. I'll also guarantee that you'll get bored of asking questions before folk here get bored of answering them.  ;)

Hi,
You might want to take a read through these threads.

and

As noted the best way of getting hold of scheltrum is on sholto@gpa-humphries.co.uk

I certainly give Triumph and Tragedy a go. I've used them for interwar games and they work a treat.

Hi!
This period/time is my interest! Glad I am not alone! I am busy doing research as may be gauged from my introductory post. My father's father took part in the War of Liberation so I have a personal interest.
Best regards

We are looking for the same in 15mm.

Peter Pig have some Freikorps figures plus late WWI and RCW figures, but we are still looking for others.
Gary, Glynis, and Alasdair (there are three of us, but we are too mean to have more than one login)
