"On the Expo. Internationale des Arts et des Techniques dans la vie Moderne in Paris* today, the German delegation exhibited this rather unusual automaton. It moved around the exhibition area at a slow pace and was claimed to be a fully working automaton with limted self thinking ability.
Naturally, this was a ridiculous notion and it was concluded by our scientists it was nothing more then a machine operated by a man seated inside, and another try by the German to appear advanced through fraudulent means. They..."

He put down the paper and looked at the photograph that had been delivered to him with some documents in a unmarked envelope. This was no mere clockwork automaton he thought, this was something a lot more advanced then the Germans showed, yet to the public this was just a Tin Men, a fake, a fraud. "How wrong they are" he said, "but maybe it's for the best that the general public stays unaware of the potential this device has". Turning his gaze on the suited man in front of him, he said "Well, Anderson, it seems we might have a job for you afterall..."

I look forward to seeing Anderson comb the German secret lab in order to destroy the secrets of Artificial Cognition!  8)

Bravo! Nice use of the Hydra robot.

I know it's a pet peeve of mine that I never stop bitching about, but I really think that is the first Weird War robot or walker I've seen that actually looks like it comes from the 30s or 40s, rather than some kind of Battletech future (or is just a 40s tank that has sprouted legs).

Nice one. You win the Plynkes Baba Yaga prize for 2008. Unfortunately there is no monetary reward, but it is very prestigious.

Why lads, you're too kind, and you just summed up why I wanted this one the minute I saw it. Took me some time to save up for it though :D

Some shots in color and a comparison pic to 20mm  and 28mm

Slightly modified, added a exhaust from an old GW Rhino and a 1/35 helmet, and painstakinly removed the base slab  :banghead:

Compared to a 20mm fig:
<deleted>

Compared to a 28mm fig:

Have 3, 1 is done now, the other one will be a diff pose but the same, nr 3 will feature a magnet system in the right arm for a modular gun pack or other (both scales). Decal on the front is a Early war 1/300 decal from Doms Decals, though the panzergrey negated the black outline  quite a bit, the Swastika is one from I-94 just as well as the Y on the leg. I want to give all of my German Pulp stuff like that a Y symbol. Yes, I'm odd. Wanted to number the thing but thought no, these are nameless machines, lets not go there, and keep it simple (stupid).

Want to use these as sentinels for 1935-1939 Pulp Games, cause they dont look 1946 to me at all, much more Indiana Jones/Sky Captain these things.

Johan

Edit: It had lovely highlights. Then I clearcoated it and wasted 1 hours of work. Oh well.

Edit: Removed the 20mm comparison pic due to a visible Swastika

Awwww! He wears a little helmet!

Wonderfully done. I agree with Plynkes - although I really like the "Battletech hand-me-downs", this one REALLY looks 1930s-1940s Pulp. Totally convincing.

But I cannot get myself over that helmet. It“s the frickin“ best part of the whole model. Totally hilarious.

Very nice  8)

As others have said, it does have a 1930's feel about it.  Kind of like a robot equivalent of the Panzer I.

The comedy Stahlheim may have something to do with it

That's great.

Mine are going to be fighting for the Allies because I thought the heads look like English Police Helmets.

I have named them 'Robot: Remote Controlled, Humanoid', or: Robot RCH. Everyone just calls them Robot Archies though

Nice!

Have a few heavy weapon ones too, lose an arm and mount a PAK there for some firepower.

Very nice idea....a few with helmets at jaunty angles please, (though that would suit the allied ones more, maybe with a metal cigar...hey wartime bender!)

I like your approach to this robot, although the way too small helmet will be his only weapon. Every enemy will die laughing!
