HMS LION - 1915

Just painted this for Grand Fleet Miniatures, a sideline of Wargames South.

Scale is 1/1200th, ship itself is 17 cm long, base overall is 23cm.
Look forward to painting some more

I like the fact you have weathering on certain parts like the stowed anchor 

Not to keen on the water though, but I can't do it, so kudos

Water was an experiment using 15 year old sculpy!!
Will get some acrylic gel for the next one
Was restrained with the weathering, less is more

There she blows - She is a beauty and the water is sufficiently effective, namely she looks like she is sailing on the ocean which is ultimately the purpose of any water surrounding a model ship. When thinking about water and realism I can't help recall the water in that abortion of a movie Titanic (the 1997 Leonardo DiCaprio edition) in which the water in some scenes left much to be desired and yet the movie won best special effects - while Starship Troopers made in the same had realistic looking bugs - go figure...

Talking about First World War period naval camouflage does anyone know if the Russian navy used splinter camouflage (often referred to as dazzle camouflage) especially during The Russian Civil War. Most importantly would it be suitable to have a Bolshevik patrol boat in Grey/white and Black splinter? After all camouflage such as this was evidently inspired by modern art - but may have been viewed as Bourgeois.
