Well, you might just have convinced me on the benefits of a horde AND given me a reason not to get rid of all those ghastly WF zeds after all.  ::)
Best use for the WF zeds.

Yup 28mm.
Thanks again for the compliments all.

Snitchy, hope you don't mind if I add my zombie horde to this thread.  Makes for kind of a one stop shop thread for zombie horde bases.

Finished one of my zombie horde bases for a game at a local convention using the very entertaining AR:SE rules.  Zombies in the horde are a mix of Wargames Factory, Reaper, Last Night on Earth and HorrorClix.  At this point I think the base could use some additional details such as cans, paper, and other ground clutter.

This can't end well....

A few more pics and shots of individual zombies prior to basing can be seen at this link.
So many games, so little time.

Nice job on the horde base (and glad you like the AR:SE rules).

 :D

A bit of clutter on the base not only adds to the look, but can also use up a bit of the space (saving on a couple of minis without detracting from the overall look).

Couple of suggestions:

Stowage clutter from vehicle packs (ie rucksack, barrel - Fenris do some nice ones0
Traffic cone (either the plastic ones you get with diecast sets, or the metal ones that Foundry used to chuck in with street violence packs)
Broken police/roadworks barrier - a bit of balsa painted either yellow/red&white angled stripes

...and best of all...

body parts - a use for those WF placcy zeds, or GW skeleton parts - just add TCR (Tamiya Clear Red with a bit of black/brown added to darken up.  A small amount of UHU glue, allowed to dry, before adding TCR also works well for "gloop".

Can't fault the finish and not as crowded as some. Agree with Matt that you could use some debris but again doesn't really detract. Paldron does some corpses that would make nice victims, there's also a nice cold war zed 'survivor' crawling with his leg bitten off, be a good one to have at the head of the herd. Lunch on the go? ;)

Other bits and pieces, gas bottles, cones bins, barriers etc, go for Fenris games, ansty and the like.

And have your own thread mate, means we can keep track of your work nicely.

See you deadside! Oh and nice adolf ;)

Don't mind at all.  Very nice job.  Who did the nuns?  Bad memories about Catholic school and all.

That's a nice looking horde. Looks like 22 zombies, mounted on a cd base?

Snitchy, the nuns are Horrorclix, from the Nightmares set, #011 Unholy Trinity.  Like most Horrorclix figs they pop off the base nicely.  If you want more facial detail you will have to do some work as each nun of the trinity only has one facial feature each, (eyes, nose, mouth.) I didn't add much extra detail because they are in the horde, on singles I would probably do more.

Luckyjoe, 22 zombies on this horde, the base is 4" diameter cut from plasticard.  Thought about using a CD, but went with a smaller size for better interaction with terrain.  Will end up making several different size horde bases, some smaller for when a survivor tries to duck down and alley to escape.

AKULA and Commander Vyper, thanks for the great suggestions on the clutter, will be incorporating those into the horde bases.   Viewing some of your past posts here and Frothers have plenty of great examples of ground clutter.

Just counted up.  191 Zeds and one horde.  I will be up in Phoenix either Thursday or Friday night. If either works send me a PM.
