Thanks to you both.  I am liking the Spartacis series myself- talk about gratuitous...everything!

The casualties and crew are Crusader, the dwarf gladiators Foundry, with a couple North Star ostrich opponents.  After I bought WH's Gladiator rules I painted up a menagerie of animal opponents for the venatores including hippos, elephants, crocs, and big cats. I originally wanted to call this " Boys, we just got beat by a bunch of goddam birds" but figured that was too long and wasn't sure if anyone would get the movie reference anyway.
