Afrika Korps Tiger I painted up 11/4 2012
« on: February 27, 2012, 08:12:55 AM »
Did not plan for it, actually planned against it - but all the Early/Mid war North Africa events planned here in southern Sweden and the long wait for more Early War Polish releases from Forged in Battle made me give in and buy a small vehicles only German army. I will run a 15th Panzer Division. Starting out with tanks and AA vehicles and leave it open for additional stuff like artillery and infantry later.

Here's the test piece I painted last night. Model is from Plastic Soldier Company.

removed photo due to symbol. Please paintbrush over Swastika in Afrikakorps Symbol, thank you.

Cheers,

Helen

Thanks guys. My biggest dilemma at the moment is that Plastic Soldier Company haven't released any later models of the PzIII and I really need a few L and J models. In which case I think I will end up doing conversions of my existing tanks since I already have 2 boxes and all the Pz III I will ever need.

Painted up two more Pz III H to complete the first combat platoon, and will start working on the command and second in command tanks tomorrow. Pictures will follow once those are finished.

First 500pts of my 15th Panzer Division for the upcoming North Afrika 1942 escalation campaign painted up. All tanks are Plastic Soldier Company, I had to convert two of them with longer barrels since I wanted a few tanks with a more powerful gun.

Apparently I can't post pictures from certain angles since the Afrikakorps symbol has a small swastika in it - forgot this was a German hosted forum. While I respect the rules and certainly don't blame Professor Witchheimer I do find it extremely ridiculous and stupid that law in certain countries prohibit symbols like this in historical context. As if pretending it never existed would make any difference and as if wargamers were Nazi supporters because of historical correctness in their modeling/painting.
Sorry if the last picture caused any trouble for you Helen.

So here's a side picture of the tanks painted up so far.

More pictures on my blog. Models are the same manufacturer that I reviewed last week - Forged in Battle.
Just need to repaint the bases so they match the other stuff I have painted, pretty much rushed these so I could field them during our North Africa campaign game last weekend.

Hehe, you continue to tease us and try to lure us in to the horrid swamp of 15mm madness. I have a hard time resisting (rather trying to resist, since I have failed somewhat) the 20mm Miniatures And Terrain Made By The Gods from Piers and his cohorts of KGN players :D

Nice painting as allways!
Tintin - Pulp Adventures in a orderly fashion
Gallows Falls - Western Village
Eisende - Mordheim costal village WIP
Rome - SPQR & Hail Caesar

@Galland, thanks  :)
I don't know about that - I myself find 20mm to be a horrible scale, in between 15 and 28mm with the qualities of neither imo. I understand people use it because supposedly there are a lot of models for that scale on the market. It just feels Warhammer Historical didn't want to join the current bandwagon of 15mm rules and just went with 20mm to be "different". Still have the Kampfgruppe Normandy rulebook here at home (borrowed from a friend) but have yet to read it in detail).

Tiger I miniature from Forged in Battle, more pictures on my blog :-)
