Lovely jobs on those figs, Michael!  I can't decide which one shows more skill -- the fine detail on the newspaper, the lavender shading, or the policeman's highlighting with dark colors!

Japp and Hastings are both from the Musketeer Miniatures VBCW Civilians Pack. Poirot is the Salute version, Miss Lemon is from the Copplestone Swell Dolls pack and PC Plod is from the Artizan line.

Damn fine painting on those civilians. The color choices are fantastic.
a mixture of quick parts, sarcastic humour, reserve, and caprice.

Is Poirot generally popular outside of the UK? It has always seemed to me to be typically British. Is it niche in USA/Canada? I can't see it challanging CSI et al...

Poirot is pretty popular in the US, as a staple of public television. I think it's the very "Britishness" of the series that makes them popular (witness the trans-atlantic success of Downton Abbey, for instance). Since one of the tropes of the series is the fact that Poirot doesn't quite fit in with the upper-crust British society of the '30s, it is easy for non-UK viewers to identify with him. (When caught, the criminal usually refers to Poirot as a "Dem foreigner").

I really like Poirot, he's been my favorite sleuth for years. Forget CSI etc.

I think Agatha Christie is quite popular in the USA even now, and Hercule comes along with that :)
Haven't seen him on TV for years though.

Greetings

oh my. Those are truly inspiring Pictures.

Haven't seen him on TV for years though.
our Cable provider had a rerun of a Couple "Murders" Movies a few weeks ago. Notably "Murder on the Nile" and "Murder on the Orient-Express".
For me the best Hercule Poirot remains Peter Ustinov. And in "Nile" with David Niven ...splendid. Just plain splendid.
I saw another HP actor, slight little dark-haired fellow, who also came close to the Belgian original story character, but
who just wouldn't fit in the role (in my opinion). I am biased perhaps.

I like Miss Lemon and her lavender coat. There is a remarkable smoothness here.

About Mars Attack. I would have liked to see the fellow with the blue dress (Boss?). And the cow makes me smile.
What is the stuff covering the bases?

It is a fabric for embroidery from my wife (I thought it was scrap  ::) I painted it with silver color. I found it quite similar to a metalic deck. The cow is just a painted toy.

Great painting Heldrak, bravo.
