Hi Guys :)

I'm very happy today!!!

This is my entry SHAS'E ORGE and the DRAKHORNE in Italian Golden Demon 2012 placed as a FINALIST in the WH40K "Duel" category.
This year the competition in this category was very strong, so this my result satisfies me a lot.

The story of Duel:
The duel is set in a desert planet full of fossilized vegetation. The two contenders are fighting on the wreck of a TAU "DevilFish" abandoned for years, and now part of the landscape.
A malignant KHORNE BLOOD SLAUGHTERER IMPALER known as Drakhorne, harpoons the battlesuit hero SHAS'EO RGE in an attempt to drag it towards itself in order to tear the TAU with its blade of green chaotic energy, but unexpectedly the hero TAU throws himself your opponent...
Hence born an epic struggle that will be forgotten in oblivion of endless war!

The scene consists of the following models, suitably modified to be adapted:
Forge World SHAS'O R'MYR'S BATTLESUIT
Forge World KHORNE BLOOD SLAUGHTERER IMPALER
Games WorkShop TAU DEVILFISH APC

Some great modelling and painting skills there.
The whole scene is amazingly well done.
 :-* :-* :-*

(Even if I did have to look at ALL of the pictures to figure out what those things were!)

Thanks Guys....
unfortunately I only placed as a finalist, not finish in the top three. The competition was top-notch, so I'm happy!  :D

a. Finalist isn't shabby 't'all.

b. Competition must have been ferocious if yours didn't place. (either that, or you pissed off a judge...)

Needz moahr skullz, prolly.

It's a beautiful piece but not very WH40k really.

how is it not 40k if all the figures are from 40k universe? The painting style?

edit: now I got what you mean :D. And yes the reason for not getting into the top 3 is the fact that it's not enough "40k"ish.

Anyway, absolutely amazing job and a lot better than the "traditional" boring 40k :). You have used imagination in your painting and unlike most of the generic presentations of 40k minis. And thank god there's no skulls....

If I had a piece of art like that, I would place it in the best spot of my house for all to see! :P

love it

I'm aware that the figures are kosher (the Chaos machine beast may be a conversion, not sure about that, but I'm sure the bitz are sufficiently GW). The painting is one thing but the figures aren't from the "iconic" Wh40k stock. Combined, the diorama doesn't come accross "grimdark space fantasy gothic" enough for me (in fact my first thought was that "a non-Wh40k piece has been allowed to enter into GD -- WTF?"). It looks like some of the judges felt the same way.

Thanks Guys  :D

In my opinion I respected the canons of WH40K, before realizing I did a lot of research on the FW Imperial Armour books.  :)

The real problem with this arrangement is that I had to adapt my modeling ambitions on a 60mm. base in diameter, in order to respect the rules of Duel category in the GD :? ... But I'm very happy with the result.  ;)
