Thanks  :)
The new set will get painted as well and I´ll put both together for comparison. Also, the new set looks like it will give some chances for conversions  and hopefully will be a similar size to the old set and allow "cross converting"

Have you tried the set before that one?
Gary, Glynis, and Alasdair (there are three of us, but we are too mean to have more than one login)

This lot? The odd looking Infantry combat group  :)

I´ve got them, as well as all the other "first" issue sets
When I´ve painted all the sets listed on the main Airfix page at PSR I might consider the "No1" sets..but that may take a while.

Old figures but the poses are great...

Really? :?

I remember these well, and yes, one or two of the poses are good. But some of them are surely shockingly weird?

The guy dancing with his rifle; the one touching the brim of his helmet (what's he supposed to be doing?); the one with his Bren gun muzzle down over his shoulder (nice figure but an essentially useless pose for a toy fighting man!). The firing poses just don't look natural either. On the whole, I think they're a pretty poor bunch. Maybe 3 or 4 'good' poses out of 15+?

Sorry to be disagreeable Paul - but I just don't think these were ever one of the good sets.
Better than the old 'infantry combat group', perhaps.
But thinking about how good many of the 2nd generation Airfix figures were, these were not (IMHO) very good at all...  :(

Generally I think Matchbox nailed it much better than Airfix.

Matter of opinion  :) which could, at the end of the day be extended to all sets and all scales..semantics, nothing more, nothing less.

Airfix 8th Army and their Afrika Korp were the pick of the bunch for my money. The Matchbox German infantry were dire.
