28mm Boat stuff!
« on: 28 April 2012, 08:30:05 AM »
Morning all,

Bit vague as I am an inveterate landsman BUT...I bought a completed wooden model of a four mast sailing ship.  The bloody thing has been staring at me for the best part of a year now but it was a tenner and well you all know how it is for gamers just acquiring stuff...Anyway I digress.  I have finally worked out what to do with it.  I will use it for just about anything and everything the Royal Navy got up to from about 1830 through to 1870.  Now here's the tricky bit, different guns mounted on magnets for swapping about, no problem but where can I go for everything else, hand rails, anchors, chains, Steering, life boat and general things you'd find on a sailing/steam ship (think HMS Shannon, HMS Gannet etc.).  Any and all help at pointing me in the right direction massively appreciated.

The ship will be used for Taku forts, Mutiny, Anglo Zulu war, Taiping etc.

Many thanks, Goaty.

Try this link. Choose the "Ship's Fittings and Naval" option in "Select Catagory".

try the ship modellers shops. usually they offer a vast range of fittings for all periods and in several scales.
the is an aladdin's cave to enhance your models.

I have ordered some from the people of cornwall models:

with fast and efficient service.
Of course there are others with same ewfficiency and range.

if you are in the us there are also lots of interesting places to have a try.
