The Kings Depart
« on: 11 August 2012, 04:55:21 PM »
A copy of the book The Kings Depart by Richard M. Watt (1968) came into the library's booksale. Mainly covering politics it does have some information on battles and skirmishes, troop strengths, equipment, etc.

My questions is how reliable is it when it comes to that information. Is anyone familiar with this book.

The Reds are protrayed in the book as very disorganized and unready for combat. There is this one instance where a group of armed Reds had seized the Brandenburg Gate, and were driven off by a bunch of armed civil servants.

The books really makes me doubt the gamability of the German Revolution.

I don't know, unless you're a severe purist I think that's fudge-able enough for game purposes. All that really matters was that there was a revolution and that both sides had some militarily-organized forces.

That's the thing, the Reds weren't very organized. They seem to be just a bunch of guys with guns as opposed to an army.

Anyway, I'll give the book free to anyone who wants it for the cost of postage. At 600 pages it won't be cheap to send.
