Help painting DUST Tactics figures

I just picked up DUST Tactics and am having a heck of a time finding any painting guides or terrain tips.  I did see a couple threads here though so I'm hopeing someone might be able to point me in the right direction.

I prefer my weird war stuff to be based/inspired by real war stuff. So look at real WW2 ref for colors. Also check out some of the weird war or WW2 eye candy here.
