Hellboy which rules are best for it?
« on: 06 June 2008, 01:59:17 AM »
cool supernatural smashing pulp!

which rules system is the best for this type of minis gaming?
I am leaning towards .45 adventures but there doesn't seem to be enough horror/fantasy/supernatural rules (of course I only have the base book).
any suggestions?

We use the free Savage Worlds Showdown rules.  They are available at www.peginc.com       Someone went to the trouble to "translate" Hellboy into the Savage Worlds format here:

Super Science Tales and Amazing War Stories for .45 should have plenty of archetypes that you can use for what you need, until Rich realeses his horror supplement that is. ;)
He that trades Liberty for Security will soon find that he has neither.

Super Science & War Stories would be the obvious ones to get. War Stories have Super Soldiers (of several flavours) that would suit.

Just saw the trailer for Hellboy II this evening (went to see Indy), looks like good fun.

In Broadsword Adventures I will be including a "Creature Builder". This could be used to design those big baddies that Big Red always has to face.

Now, I don't expect you to go and buy the fantasy version of the rules just to get that. I'll see about putting a stripped down version up for dowload so that you can create all kinds of Cthulhu-like creatures for the H guy to face.

Occult Wars is very good too and has stats for a very similar character ;)
