More help -- painting streams
« on: 02 July 2013, 10:05:46 AM »
More help, fellow Lead Adventurers!
I'm in the process of test painting a stream section, a shallow one most likely in a wooded area. I was going to paint it blue, but i suddenly remembered 'streams aren't blue!'. I've tried a test, using browns of various shades and a coat of PVA,

Ok, i haven't got an updated photo because i can't find the camera, just wondering if anyone had tried something similar/knowns a useful link.

Thanks

Max, colours-wise it looks like any number of rivers and streams I have fished over more than thirty years, so I'd say its fine for that. All I would say is that it looks "too" shallow, even for a shallow section. More PVA, maybe?
Measure with a micrometer, mark with chalk, cut with an axe, hammer to fit, paint to match!

Yacht varnish is your friend, and plenty of it  :)

Thin coats though or you'll get it wrinkled when it dries, five to eight will do the trick.

cheers
