Where do I get Palm trees?
« on: August 18, 2013, 11:17:50 PM »
Well no real ones. I need a lot in 28mm (1/72 would still be Ok) for our WW2 board, I like the Pegasus ones but they are not cheap. Any suggestions are welcome!
Thanks
Jan

I wonder if I could tell you anything the "Related Topics" didn't already. ;)

Which side of the pond are you on?
Cheap playsets (UK poundland etc) usually include a palm tree or two, and you can sometimes pick up the trees from car boot sales or charity shops, but that's a long slow slog.
Quicker option, cake decorating shops sometimes have them in bags of 6-10 trees, they don't have bases but are easily based.

I ordered some Palm trees from an Hong Kong based eBay shop, 11€ for 20 trees. The pic looks promising, hope they are that good. The ones Eric uses I guess.
Cheers
Jan.

As Fastolfrus said -- cake decorating shop like:
http://www.sugarcraft.com/catalog/novelties/novelties.htm#trees

Two sizes. Both work great with 28mm and down. For really tall trees though, you'll have to go elsewhere.

A lot of times you'll see these re-packaged for re-selling.

If that seller is Mr "We Honest" one of my friends ordered loads of smaller scale trees from him. They were all excellent.

If you really want a UK supplier you could try Leon at minibits. His Palms are around £2.50 for 10  http://www.minibits.net/Trees-c13/Palm-Trees-sc21/

He has other nice trees too!

I like the Chinese palm trees. (Also very good to make ferns from.)

There are a few different sellers who have the same trees on eBay.
They are the same as the Minibits trees, no doubt bought in bulk and resold, though still at a very good price.
