Hidden Movement Question
« on: September 07, 2013, 06:46:06 AM »
Can anyone give me some ideas on how to do hidden movement on table for a 15mm ACW game? Also any help on ideas for spotting said hidden units.

       Thanks!

Principles of War 19th century covers ACW and has a mechanic for hidden movement and spotting. Each command has a base and the army has a number of dummy bases. These are moved until spotted when they are removed (dummies) or replaced by figures if real. Opposing officers spot bases on a die roll depending on terrain and distance. Not strictly hidden movement but it works without the need for umpires or maps. PM me if you need more info.

You could do worse than look at this.

Sharp Practice handles this with a mechanic called "blinds". Simple and effective.

Thanks for the responses guys.

John: I am somewhat familiar with PoW, and that is where I was leaning. Unfortunately I don't have the charts so I will have to come up with my own.

Brian: The Feldmachinck is really cool, but I don't have the time or the materials to build it. And I have to admit it is kind of intimidating in a strange sort of way.  :)

Red Orc: Thanks for the link. There are some good ideas in there that I havent ruled out yet.

Furt: I am sad to say that I have no experience with Sharp Practice. Any info on "blinds" would be awesome.

Once again guys thanks for the help.
