well, there are other details too, so it depends how historically accurate You want to be.
Apperantly there was a strong desire in the french army to appear distinct for every arm.
While cut of the uniform, cloth, equipment and weapons were the same, the line infantry would wear muzette, blanket roll and bidon one way, while the chasseurs would arrange them reversed, for example.
On the other hand, I haven't seen miniatures to represent this accurately so far....
