Yakuza Gangster
« on: January 06, 2014, 10:02:14 PM »
In anticipation of 'a fistful of kung fu' I've made a start on some Dixon yakuza I've had lying around for a year or so.

Still unsure what to do about the basing though, any ideas?

Nice work!

I'm glad I'm not the only one ramping up for AFFOKF. As for basing, I've hit the same dilema - I am tempted by urban of some sort (grey concrete? tarmac?), but I'm not sure (A) what scenery I am likely to be using yet and (B) how to get a convincing urban basing effect which doesn't look like gravel....

I use Polyfilla for all my bases, usually with a brown basecoat/highlight/wash and a bit of static grass (for rural), or a grey version minus the static grass for urban. The Polyfilla gives a decent textured effect without the 'gravel' effect you mention and is pretty generic/versatile. It also covers figure bases much better than flock/sand.

use milliput, it can be smoother or textured with a hard brush or what ever you have to hand. I use it to make allsorts of bases, dungeons, cobbles, rough ground.
