Non-standard ships for X-Wing
« on: 01 February 2014, 10:47:46 PM »
I recently picked up a Republic Cruiser and Sith Infiltrator (Scimitar) to use for X-Wing (actually I found the Scimitar at home in a box while I was looking for something else Star Wars related)   :D.
So a couple of questions, firstly has anyone thought of stats for these two ships yet?  Secondly is anyone able to product the stand cards and pilot/ship cards for these custom ships?  I have seen online great quality home made cards for this and that but my software skills are weak so I need someone with the Force to help me out.  Any ideas?
Here are the ships as per Wookieepedia and star wars.com;
http://starwars.com/explore/encyclopedia/technology/republicdiplomaticcruiser/
http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Consular-class_cruiser
http://starwars.com/explore/encyclopedia/technology/sithinfiltrator/
http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Scimitar

According to the blurb I'm assuming that the following could be assumed to be standard on each ship:

Scimitar (modified Star Courier) - shields and ion canon or lasers plus some sort of cloaking device (perhaps the ability to limit rerolls or force rerolls to hits, downgrading criticals to regular hits)
Republic Cruiser (Consular Class) - shields, turbo lasers and concussion missiles

Thoughts?

Sterling,

If you can give me the sizes and layouts of the cards I could probably whip some up for ya via Gamecrafter (ask anyone...big fan of cards...).  In fact, a simple scan of a current card, I could probably edit it enough, and put whatever stats/images you'd like on there.

I just don't know the standard sizes used.  The ship cards would probably be pretty easy.  I don't own X-Wing at the moment so you'd have to send me to some sources.

There are already many, many ships covered, just search for "X-Wng Custom ships" on the net.
There are also pretty cool cards tools around!

Many people had the same idea, and so did I. I started out creating all the required graphic parts and layers in Photoshop, when I ran into ready and complete templates online. Turned out somebody had already done all the foot work (exactly what I had been setting out to do), and creating cards was all of a sudden a couple of weeks of painstaking graphics work closer!

I believe I found the templates (.PSD; for Photoshop) here:

http://community.fantasyflightgames.com/index.php?/topic/92400-new-custom-pilot-crew-cards/

So I set to work witht he ideas I had, and these are the first results. I ran the cards by my trusty proof reader Voivod, and I changed some details at his suggestions already, but I feel there are some minute changes still required to make the wording clearer (I'm looking at you, Aeron Azzameen...):

There's still some colour discrepancies when they're printed, but that's a local problem, which will require different settings on each and every different setup. Be prepared for some trial and error there, if you want them indistinguishable (which I of course want ::) ). Oh; and invest in a corner punch with the correct radius to finish the whole thing off...
Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

Those are brilliant looking!  The more you guys post about this stuff the more I debate actually buying into X-Wing.  ;D
