standard or non-standard basing for FWC?
« on: March 08, 2012, 11:07:37 AM »
Do you use "Standard" FWC basing for your units?  If not, what size do you prefer?

Gracias,

Glenn

I have to ask. What is FWC basing, and how is it standard?

I used `Warmaster basing` for my infantry, being 4on2 for squads and small coins for the commands

Doesn`t make to much difference btw if two opposing forces have different basing methods, the extra melee frontage is off set by the nr of opponents allowed anyways, and for artillery we just ruled that the middle must be touched

I have to ask. What is FWC basing, and how is it standard?

The question is based on two assumptions - FWC = Future War Commander.

"Standard" bases are the sizes listed in the rules books for FWC/CWC/BKC II.

EDIT:  Of Course  ::) right now I can only find the CWC - Cold War Commander  - page with the basing (2 mm hardboard) used for the author's N scale figures:

CO 50 mm x 50 mm
HQ 40 mm x 40 mm
Infantry 40 mm x 30 mm
Tanks 30 mm x 50 mm
Vehicles and Recce 25 mm x 50 mm
AT/AA guns 40 mm x 50 mm
Artillery 40 mm x 50 mm

FAOs 2 figures on a one pence coin, and FACs a vehicle and two figures on a two pence coin.  The sizes of the coins are not known to this American...
Aircraft 50 mm x 50 mm

Since most pictures in the books look like they use 1/300th or 15 mm (or even 28 mm) figures and I am planning on using modified 1/600th historical figures I was wondering whether most people use the example bases or different sizes.

Gracias,

Glenn

for 1/600th I was originally thinking:

CO 25 mm x 25 mm
HQ 20 mm x 20 mm typo corrected
Infantry 20 mm x 15 mm
Tanks 15 mm x 15 mm
Vehicles and Recce 15 mm x 25 mm
AT/AA guns 20 mm x 25 mm
Artillery 20 mm x 25 mm
FAOs 2 figures on a 20 mm Circle
FACs a vehicle and two figures on a 25 mm Hexagon
Aircraft 25 mm Octagon

I need to blue tack some figures on these bases and post pictures for feedback.

Gracias,

Glenn
