Hurro! From R'Lyeh via Southampton, England
« on: 06 March 2014, 10:13:45 AM »
After over 20 years since I sold all my miniatures and got into guitars, booze, and girls I've gotten the bug to pick up the paintbrush once more.  I'm really into Mythos related figures and looking to build some forces and do a spot of wargaming with two pals.

And yes, I'm old enough to remember when Games Workshop sold other companies products, was staffed by grown hairy men in Heavy Metal T-shirts, and Death Metal was playing in the shop.  Oh and 6 minis where about £1.50.  DAMN have these things shot up in price!

I'm really interested in a slightly old-school aesthetic, a degree of realism in both sculpts and painting style, and not so much the the post-Games Workshop 2.0 'cartoony' vibe.  Not saying it's bad, just that it's not for me!  Probably my age....where's the wrinkle cream!  Oh hell, I'll just use Milliput and scrape my flash lines off with an angle-grinder.

Anyways: in researching Mythos minis I have greatly enjoyed the threads here so thought I'd join up and maybe post about my new adventures in minis and mythos, as they happen.  It's gonna be a slow process I expect.

Be nice to the Elder N00b  ;)

'Tis a place where investigators are intrepid, cultists are nefarious, and gambrel roofs are dilapidated.

Welcome to LAF ShortscaleDave.

May you have a long and merry stay with us.
I know you're too old to play with toy soldiers. So give them to me... NOW!

Thanks for extending the friendly tentacle of friendship all  :)

It's amazing to see the resources made available from the pooled knowledge here and it's incredible to think there was no real internet when I last put paint to mini!!!!

Be mindful of the prayers you send
Pray hard but pray with care
For the tears that you are crying now
Are just your answered prayers
