Saga Turn Counter
« on: March 08, 2014, 07:36:58 PM »
As some of you may know, I am organizing a Saga tournament on 26th April at Canterbury University.

More details can be found here if you are interested - http://studiotomahawk.freeforums.org/canturbury-kent-saturday-26th-april-2014-t4415.html

Anyway, for this event I have been very busy of late making a lot of terrain bases up for the tables. I have managed to make enough scenery for 10 tables now, plus the extra odds and ends for the specific scenarios which I also created for the event.

Something I did want to do though was create a prize I could give out, and I wanted it to be a little different from the normal stuff that tends to be given at these events. So I have the idea to create something for the player that has killed the most members of his opponents warbands over the day.

So I present The Most Bloodthirsty Award -

Based on a 50mm x 50mm base, the figure spins around on a pin to denote the turns of the game.
Normal Saga games tend to have a 7 turn maximum hence the specific numerals chosen.

Cheers, John.

Great idea for a turn counter.  Consider the idea stolen borrowed!

Thanks Hu Rhu, Glad you like it. Hopefully its winner will enjoy it too.

I have finished enough terrain for 10 tables now for this event, and got a photo while I was checking it out today. It looks quite impressive filling a 4' x 3' cloth.

The great bit for me is after the event all of this stuff will then help set my M&T table a treat, among other games.

More blather can be found on my blog if anyone is interested - http://warofthewoods.blogspot.co.uk/2014/03/saga-event-terrain.html

Cheers, John.

That idea is hot.  Do you have WIP pictures?  I am trying to work out how the pin and spinning action operates.
This is my boomstick!

Just GENIOUS!

I'm sure similar turn markers will spring on a lot of gaming tables around the world.

Thanks for sharing.
I know you're too old to play with toy soldiers. So give them to me... NOW!
