Recommendations for 28mm not-XCOM MEC suits?
« on: 25 March 2014, 02:15:42 PM »
I just finished my first playthrough of "Enemy Within", and now I'm jonesin' for a couple MECs to add to my general arsenal. Anyone know of any good models that could be pressed into such service? Doesn't have to be exact, just as long as it has approximately the right style. Only thing I can think of off the top of my head is Antenociti's Komodo powered armor, but it's all curves where the MECs are more planar/blocky, so it doesn't have the same vibe.

For reference: http://xcom.wikia.com/wiki/MEC

History viewed from the inside is always a dark, digestive mess, far different from the easily recognizable cow viewed from afar by historians.

A worthy cause for sure!   8)

You could try and source some AT-43 UNA powered suits. They're comparable to Komodo's size- and bulkwise, but they're all angles and flat surfaces...

++EDIT++ Thought I'd add a linky for good measure: clickidylink

Check out pig iron miniatures, they have some cyborgs that might also work.

This was discussed before on another thread and somebody mentioned pig iron:

Are these suits supposed to be human-sized? If so, you might consider Critical Mass Games, in particular the Protolene faction - those have some rather nice designs that would work quite well, although they might be a bit too small for larger 28mm figures, since the CMG line is 15mm. The suits are somewhere between 40 and 50mm tall, IIRC.

Looked into this earlier. The MEC suits are substantially larger than a regular soldier. There are plenty of excellent power armor suits available like Zandris IV, old SST Grizzlies and Cougars, and such but nothing quite matches the size, leg config, and weapons. Let me know if you come up with something.
