Giant rat-drawn plague/corpse cart
« on: 12 March 2015, 11:03:24 PM »
I found myself a bit restless so I knocked together this cart, which I guess could work as either a Nurgle plague cart or an undead corpse cart, out of some spares I had lying around. I originally had half of a broken Skeleton Horde plastic horse lying in the back but it looked stiff and just wrong, so I squeezed a few partial skeletons (that have got themselves broken following years of storage and a house-move) in there instead.

The wheels appear to have been previously stuck on the cart then broken off, then stuck on at least one more time, and while I was casting about looking for a file to level the connecting surfaces out it struck me that I quite like the rickety look they had when just resting against the body of the cart, so I stuck them back on unashamedly wonky.

Hopefully I'll get it based and some paint whacked on it next week.

A nice little conversion. Look forward to the painting.

That is just SO COOL. ..A GREAT IDEA! This is going to a special piece once you have it all painted up.

Thanks for the vote of confidence DeafNala! I was going to prime it tonight but it's just started raining, and at the moment I'm having to prime outdoors.

Also after looking Pil's C22 Plague Cart thread I'm starting to think I should run a chain from the harness to the driver's hand. Need to dive into the bitz boxes!

Really great concept!  Perhaps he throws the rat a bone every now and then.  I do like the idea of giant rats pulling carts  :o

Thanks Samnite! Yeah, I like the mental image of the rider tossing out bones for the rat.

So anyway, after looking at Pil's Plague Cart thread in the suggested links, I added reins and some binding (in the form of strips of superglued paper) because I realised the chain harness didn't look right just draped over the shafts like that. Hopefully I'll get a base made and get it all primed in a day or so! Massive thanks to Pil for the inspiration to run reins to the rider's hand.

Thanks guys! My hobby time has been cut down a little over the past couple of days so it still isn't base and painted yet! Soon though!
