Suitable Tong characters.
« on: May 01, 2016, 06:21:26 PM »
I'm looking for Chinese Tong/Dacoit types suitable for 1900-1930 other than Obelisk.  Looking for a style/sculpt close to Andrew - Statuesque Miniatures - Rae  They have "Dr Fang."

Suggestions?

Pulp Figures (pulpfigures.com), has exactly what you are looking for, but Bob Murch is in the process of updating the range. You might be able to find some secondhand, look for Yangtze Gangs.

The Pulp ones are a very good shout.  I am not that fussy as the slippers and clothing are quite timeless so I mix anything Taiping, Boxer or even later in my games.

Foundry Taiping - tad smaller
Ironclad Boxers - decent fit
West Wind EOTD - decent fit
Parkfield Taiping - decent size but different sculpt style

Thanks.

Huge fan of Pulp Figures, but not sure they will fit with Dr Fang.  Will double-check with the figures in my collection.

Then I thought of IHMN The Black Dragon Tong.  Would only want three or four figures though.

The Ironclad Boxers look good.  And Foundry, of course.  Smaller shouldn't be a problem.  Dr Fang sculpt is quite slight so won't want him too smaller than everyone else.

Will try Ebay next.

Thanks again for the input.   :)

I had meant to type the IHMN ones too - thinking faster than my fingers again.  They are another great option but only come as the set as you say.

Some of those Dare to Die Fanatics might suit as well.
Cheers,

Copplestone = Fantastic, but not for this project.  Dr Fang is slightly built compared to Copplestone stuff.
