My suspicion with this game is that everyone will want to play the Crusaders and Templars and very rarely will you find a Muslim opponent. I'm sure that world-wide this won't be the case, but here in the US that's pretty much what I'm expecting. Will be interesting to see how it pans out.

Get a group together, make everybody paint 1 or 2 pts. of saracens, take turns to play the resulting army.  :)
Ask at the LAF, and answer shall thy be given!

I bought Saga with the idea of converting it to an El Cid type setting (but never did it!). Would the C&C boards be better suited do you think?

Are the new boards & factions playable against the old ones?

It did feel a bit that the newer Saga factions (Bretons/jomsvikings) were better than the original ones?

Sounds like it to me - it's a topic closely related to the crusades.

There is not much modification necessary  ??? - one of the six new armies ARE the El Cid Spanish.

A good book, really. Alas, as far as I'm concerned it is too lax with religious feelings (does the sacrament really has to be transferred into a SAGA-ability?), but otherwise full of interesting ideas.

And well, since figures of mine are featured in the book, what can I say about the pictures?

Fully playtested against the dark ages saga and fight equally as well. I know as I helped with some of the testing which went pn for more than a year.

Yesrthe el cid era is eminently playable with spanish and milites christi forces as religious knightly orders showing against the moors and muttawaiti (more fanatical tribes).

Has anyone else had any issues with print quality? I had a slightly blurry page and one page where apparently the paper sheet had folded over in the printing machine resulting in a page where there was a part of it folding out leaving a blank area underneath and making the page into a weird 10 corner thing :D It's still readable as I can just fold it over and on the other side there was no text and only pictures. Still pretty darn annoying.

Rules wise it looks to be pretty interesting even if I haven't been able to try any of the new battle boards out. Nice variety compared to the original Saga battleboards. And a lot more nice shiny pictures to look at too! :)

I'd drop GB a line about that. It can happen occasionally with printing, but is quite hard to spot, until you the unfortunate end-user reads the book.
