Infinity: a question of scale.
« on: 10 October 2014, 01:33:11 PM »
Hi there. I am trying to source some miniatures for a little Star Wars project, and noticed the Infinity range. Can anyone give me an idea of their scale?

Let me know what models ranges you are familar with an if I have any of them I'll take a photo of some infinity stuff next to it for you if that will help.

Infinity miniatures vary a bit, but tend to be between 28 and 31mm from sole to eyeline. A common comparison is to GW Cadian Imperial Guardsmen which are 28mm sole to eye.  Keep in mind also that Infinity miniatures are not as "heroic" as many other ranges. Rather than being bulky and chunky they go the other way with a more animae aesthetic. Most of their soldiers being either fairly realistically proportioned or quite lithe.

Lastly, it bears mentioning that if you put "Infinity Miniatures scale" into google images search, you will get dozens of pictures of infinity miniatures next to other companies miniatures.

I have nothing that scale sorry.

Here is an infinity model next to a space marine. It's not my picture but you can probably find a picture of a space marine compared with something you have online.

Do you mean 1/35 or 35mm?

If it's 1/35, then you're in a tough spot.  1/35 is very close to 54mm scale.  There are few sci-fi figs in that scale, and what there are is pretty expensive.  You're best bet is probably the modification of 1/35 military kits and minis of which there are many.

Looks like I will have to do some conversion work on 1/35 military models then.
Again, thanks for the help.

Happy to do so.  Best of luck on the project.  Don't give totally up on non-military stuff though.

For more compatible stuff, check Hobbylink Japan and search their sci-fi model kits by scale.  Here's something coming next year you may be interested in.

Also a search for "54mm sci-fi" will give you some options spread over a variety of companies.  Reaper, for example has this beauty who would be great for a smuggler.

North Star also has a pretty good selection

Best of luck with your project.

Dunno if this would help:

It was to show off the Effigy Miniatures scale, but there is a GW fig in the middle and an Infinity girl on the end.
