Retinue of William Marshall
« on: November 21, 2014, 01:24:56 PM »
The retinue of William Marshall or, probably more appropriately, Roger Bigod, 5th Earl of Norfolk (take your pick). Figures are by Curteys Miniatures.

Oh now, they are good. Currently reading (on and off among other things) about the first Barons War and the Invasion of England in 1217.

Those Curteys miniatures do look good too- they don't do too good a job of showcasing them on their website. Do they come with cast on or separate weapons?

Thanks for the comments, greatly appreciated.

"Do they come with cast on or separate weapons?"

To answer your question - yes and no. If I recall correctly their main range comes with cast on weapons but their Crossed Lances range (which is largely based on the Feudal Medieval Western range but has more variety) does come with separate heads and weapons, swords, maces etc. for use with the Crossed Lances tournament rules.

Lovely painting!

I too did not realize that Curtey's Miniatures were that attractive.

Brilliant - the Earl's colours help to make a striking display too.
The striping on the lance is beautifully done, and the standard bearer's face is stunning.  8) 8) 8)

This is very true. I saw some Curteys fuedal figures at a show and thought they looked superb, but on their website I was never overly impressed. It is good to see some painted up on here. I've quite often wanted to do the Anarchy and the events around Lincoln with these figures.

Quite lovely. I really enjoy the heraldry.
Those are some very characterful miniatures.
