Movie "Alien" miniature boardgame
« on: January 12, 2015, 02:44:03 AM »
Quite a while ago I had some miniature tiles printed up from Makerbot by Dutchmogul for an Alien type game I had in mind.  They were simply printed in black plastic, and I painted them and added some bits and pieces.

The game is simple and portable!  A player moves around the Nostromo gathering supplies and engaging the self destruct sequence.  Blips are turned over every round.  they may be supplies, or Xenomorphs.

The miniatures were painted by Calimero!

Very effective.  I really like the pieces Dutchmogul is putting out (and the Ill Gotten Games pieces). His "home print" 3D dungeon tiles are great.

The tiles and bits of scenery turned out well, easy to paint too.  The figures need a bit of work though, definitely crude compared to cast metal.  The tiles are indestructible, which is nice, and the whole things fits in a small box so I can play at work at lunch.

Thanks for all the compliments.

Do you have your little ruleset available for download anywhere?

I'm one of the folks that tend to play Aliens, but would like to see about giving the original a go.

Unless you consider Dark Star 'the original'...  lol

Thanks!

Doug

sure pm me.  They are ridiculously simple, more of a solo boardgame really.  You could use Spacehulk tiles easily.

I could have sworn the original was "Planet of the Vampires":

Seriously, Alien steals so much of its look from this crappy B-movie Sci-Fi, it's uncanny.

Ace idea, brilliantly done!

The game sounds good too...

Could make tiles out of drinks coasters for 28mm...
